Birchwood School of Hawken Alumnae named National Merit Semifinalists

Congratulations to Jane Nilson ('17) and Shruthi Ravichandran ('17) for being among the 681 students in Ohio to earn National Merit Semifinalists designation. This honor places them in the top one percent of students in the state.
In the past ten years, 29 Birchwood students have received National Merit recognition. This number represents nearly a fifth of all our graduates within that time frame.

The 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program gives high school seniors the chance to compete for around $30 million in scholarships to be awarded next spring. The over 1.5 million competitors in this year’s program took the Preliminary SAT last year to qualify.

As semifinalists, these students can now apply for a wide range of scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship program, corporate and business organizations, and colleges and universities.  They will be judged based on their academic record, community and school activities, leadership ability, employment, and other accomplishments.

We wish these two outstanding alumnae the best of luck in the National Merit Scholarship Program and all their future endeavors.
