Birchwood’s Geography Bee class champs from grades 4-8 rolled out their mental maps in the schoolwide National Geographic Bee on Jan. 23.
Seventh-grader, John, emerged as the all-school champion for the second consecutive year. Eighth-grader, Thomas, also made the championship round and finished as runner-up. To qualify for the school competition, the 10 bee contestants had to outperform classmates through multiple rounds of questions about continents, countries, and states. The group of competitors also included fourth-graders Jinan and Calvin, fifth-graders Jad and Albert, sixth-graders Abby and Rohan, seventh-grader Jaden, and eighth-grader Praveen. Congratulations also to Albert and Jaden who tied for third place. John’s first place victory advances him to the state qualifier test.
