Students Explore Societal Impacts of Stress

On April 12-13, Birchwood School’s Future Problem Solving team competed in the State Bowl at Solon Middle School. In preparation, the team conducted extensive research on the worldwide problem of stress and offered many creative solutions in competition. Their hard work paid off as nine students out of the 23-member team of state qualifiers won awards.

Scenario Writing:

Cadence Gou (6th grade of Broadview Heights) 2nd place for “Survival”
Eric Vaziri (8th grade of Westlake), 3 rd place for “The Test”
Ehren Collins (8th grade of Lakewood), 4th place for “Mapping Mars”
Van Weinmann (9th grade of Cleveland), 5th place for “How I Died from Food Waste”

Presentation of Action Plans:

The team of James Mamone (7th grade of Parma), Rohan Kumar (7th grade of Brunswick),
Dhyani Nautiyal (7th grade of Lakewood), and Andrew Moreno (7th grade of Cleveland)
won 3 rd place.

Individual winner:

Max Wang (8th grade of Avon), 1 st place
