Student Success at Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad was held on March 4, 2017 at Case Western Reserve University with a 23-member team from grades 4-6 representing Birchwood School of Hawken.

Birchwood students competed against 18 area teams in 24 events that tested their knowledge on a variety of scientific topics and engineering skills. Birchwood’s team placed eighth overall in Division A.

Birchwood science teachers Linda Brown and Michelle Bottini began weekly afterschool training sessions with the team beginning in mid-October. They added an additional practice time on Saturdays in January. “We are proud of how our students performed at the competition, and are even more impressed with their diligence to practice and study,” said Brown and Bottini.
