AMY STRIETER
A grateful graduate of Birchwood School, Amy Strieter went on to jubilant matriculations at Hathaway Brown School (cum laude) and Kenyon College (cum laude). At these institutions, Ms. Strieter began and continued studying Spanish. Her enjoyment and confidence in this language bloomed, however, while studying tropical ecology in Costa Rica. She could not wait to return to the cloud forest to watch for sabrewings and practice Spanish, so after receiving her B.A. in English with an Emphasis in Creative Writing, she returned as a writer for AnywhereCostaRica and a guide for the Monteverde Butterfly Garden.
After volunteering, studying and interning in Costa Rica, Indonesia, and Cleveland Heights, Ms. Strieter began tutoring and substitute teaching in Cleveland. Antsy to practice Spanish more regularly than the occasional conversation, she was thrilled to accept an offer to teach Spanish at Birchwood School to its younger students. Watching steadfast students work through language challenges, Ms. Strieter appreciates their sincere enthusiasm and energy. She hopes to contribute to their growth as positively as her Birchwood teachers enriched her development as a student and person.
