JAMIE SAMULAK
Students
who enter Jamie
Samulak’s classroom step into a warm and loving environment where
history comes
alive. Through the use of simulations, research projects, skits, songs,
many
other hands on activities, and, of course, a challenging curriculum,
students
dive into the history of their city, state, and country.
Mrs.
Samulak earned her bachelor’s
degree in 2000 at Cleveland State University.
Mrs. Samulak gained teaching experience through long-term substituting
and
tutoring positions before joining the Birchwood faculty in 2005 as a
Math
teacher. After successfully teaching math for three years, she took a
year of
maternity leave after giving birth to her second son, Jonathan, in
2008. She
returned to Birchwood in 2009 eager to teach Social Studies.
As a wife and mother of
two,
her life experiences bring much to the classroom.
Her extensive travels to many areas of the United States include
cross-country trips to California
during which
she explored many of the national parks throughout the western and
central
areas of the country. In addition, she has had the opportunity to visit
parts
of Mexico,
Canada,
Europe, Iceland,
and Malaysia,
along with a
month long stay in Taiwan.
All of these rich and varied experiences have broadened Mrs. Samulak’s
world
outlook, making her classes interesting and relevant to the third and
fourth
grade students whom she loves to teach.
